RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS, Survival horror? or Action adventure? on 3DS....
RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS was a 3DS only title before it's success led to many HD upscaled versions of it on bigger consoles and on the PC.
RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS is set between RESIDENT EVIL 4 (A series best) and RESIDENT EVIL 5 (One of the worst entries in the series!).
The game is highly atmospheric (While not in the same league as RESIDENT EVIL 4 Wii EDITION) and you will really enjoy exploring The Queen Zenobia ship and fighting it's horrific inhabitants.
You even have scenes in snow covered European mountains which are really cool and atmospheric too.
The game controls are good and RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS feels natural to play on 3DS however what was disappointing was the lack of variation in the monsters you come across.
Because of the lack of variation in the monsters I feel the game was also less scary than say RESIDENT EVIL 4 and even though RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS plays much better than RESIDENT EVIL 5, it's surprisingly less frightening even than that entry. That's not to say the action is not thrilling, because it is and there are one or two scary moments - however it feels more like an action adventure than a survival horror.
The graphics and sound are lovely and really make this one of the best looking games at the time of it's release on 3DS - However if you compare it to something like THE 3RD BIRTHDAY on PSP with it's stunning graphics and gameplay as a comparison you will realise that CAPCOM could have done much more to make this better.
RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS is still a strong entry in the RESIDENT EVIL series and worthy of playing if you are a fan but don't expect the variation and thrills of RESIDENT EVIL 4.
